Which Wire Is My Back Up Lights?
I already have it installed, still need to do some mods and find this sim, I’m pushing myself really hard to try. I have a head unit with waterproof night vision camera connected with rca cable.
On another forum they said (quoted) “there was a green/white/LT strip in the wiring channel between the battery and the firewall”. Found it online…I’m still testing to make sure, but worth a try…

I read online that the wire on the back of the truck with the green on it is white/LT. Green, however I’ve read that it turns purple/black wire when near the cab.
Is there any reason why you can’t save yourself some stress by tapping the wire on the back of your truck, pulling the back wire to the front, or wherever you need it?

Reverse Switch — Tal
I’m getting my new deck done this weekend, the wiring harness is for the reverse sensor so when I put the van in reverse it automatically goes into cam.
Well, after a lot of googling, I found out that the bright green wire under the passenger side dash in the BCM (Body Control Module) is the reverse light signal.
As with everything, it’s very easy to explain it to someone else after 3 hours.
Like most things in vans it’s a bit different than trucks.
Help Finding Reverse Signal Input Wire
1) Remove all the random plastic parts you need to remove to get to the BCM before the passenger seat.
3) Push the BCM in and lift it up and then pull it straight down (easier if you’ve moved all the cables.
It was hard to figure out, but once I did it was pretty easy to attach. So I hope my pain helps you.
Artementy: You have the charts and look at them whenever you get a chance. Apparently the cable I plugged in was different from the park to anything else… so no reverse signal.

I also recommend keeping the camera permanently plugged in so you can operate it from your head unit even when you’re on the go. Helps you see while pulling.
Good recommendation for full-time camera wiring or switch power. Mine is set up this way (it’s actually powered by the turn signals) and I use it on the road quite often as another means of seeing behind me in traffic. I also have a camera on my trailer that I can connect to my backup camera wiring so I can see behind me while towing.

So I’m trying to figure this out, if I want to hook it up to a switch that can turn it on or off, does it have to be a 12v supply? That is, how do I see that the wire is always +12V and that means it’s on, or that it’s below 12V ground to turn it on. So in theory I can connect it to anything that lights up and simulates light…
How To Tap Into Reverse Lamp Wire In The Cabin?
I don’t know which headunit you are installing but I have a parrot asteroid smart. It has a lead for the reverse light, so when I put the van in reverse, the screen automatically switches to the camera.
The camera uses very little power, so I ran the camera’s power cord with its video cable and plugged it into the main unit’s power outlet. This is the lead you connect your amp/subwoofer trigger signal to.
Do not install it above doors! You can’t see your shield and have a clear view of the horizon.

I tried the high position but it was stupid because the rear doors are bent and the rear bumper is impossible to see and no “wide” lens can fix that. I think the earlier express vans installed the OEM camera on top and then moved it below the door handle.
I also don’t have a night vision camera, so I’m a little worried about that, but I’ve installed some extra backup lights.
If I want to see where I’m backing up at night, I brake a little to turn on the red lights, which gives me enough light to see everything, align the ball with the trailer, etc. No problem.
I’ll probably see how much it costs to have a factory designed license plate. GM cams are a little grainy so I want to see how good it is before I pay.

I’m also thinking of adding some LED lights attached to the back to give me a little extra light. I have tinted glass on the door and it makes it very difficult to see through the glass. I love flash bumper mounts, although I’m always afraid to cut cars.
