How To Take Base Off Graco Car Seat – For years, Graco’s SnugRide line of rear-facing car seats has provided a comfortable, easy-to-install and easy-to-use foundation in the car seat market.

With this long and wonderful history in our pockets, we are happy to know that Graco is releasing a new series of seats with an updated, easy-to-install base: the SnugLock Series. This review covers the basic all-in-one model, the SnugRide SnugLock 35.

The SnugRide SnugLock 35 featured in this review has 4 harness positions and a standard j-hook for attaching the bottom of the base. It does not have a readback strap.

The SnugRide SnugLock 35 DLX has 4 belt slots in the child support section of the main seat with SnugLock armrests and quality lower anchor brackets.

The SnugRide SnugLock Platinum does not include a retractable seat belt in the seat’s child carrier, a large SnugLock arm, and no premium lower anchor brackets.

Cars with 3 rows sometimes have to move the second row of seats forward to get to the third row. If this is the case with your car, secure it to the chassis with the anchors below.

Here’s what I want to say about this base and the installation process: I installed it 3 days after I had my C-section. Now, before you think I’m recommending this: I’m not. As a CPST, I meet with many prospective families and often recommend that they take care of installing a car seat around 36 weeks. However, for some logistical and cultural reasons, I found myself in a hospital being removed from the SnugLock without installing it and with a guy who was eager to help. But I wanted to try it myself… and it took about 2 minutes.

Caregivers with migraines or confusion may want to check out this position. The SnugLock arm requires little force to close and can be closed with one hand.

This basic model includes standard j-hook style mounts for the lower anchors. They keep it in a little compartment at the bottom. Like the Britax Boulevard Clicktight and Nuna Rava, this basic SnugLock model fits perfectly on the belt; Installing and removing traditional bottom anchors can be time-consuming and difficult. Other versions of this seat have lower mounting brackets – in those versions, the fastening of the base of the seat belt is done in the same way as installing the lower anchors.

Install this stand on the lower anchors by attaching the lower anchor brackets to the vehicle’s lower anchor bars. Tighten the band but leave a little slack to close the SnugLock handle. I found the seat belt very easy to use, and this is actually a seat that doesn’t often require anchors to be installed underneath.

I was very surprised to see that this seat offers a European seat belt for bottomless installation. I use the word “surprised” not only because I wasn’t expecting it, but also because the Euro belt loop is not mentioned anywhere in the seat markings. It is mentioned in the manual as an option. Since this setup improves the stability of the seat,  I want it to continue to be promoted.

Also, it took a minute to figure out where the belt should go in the European corridor. There is a hook on the back of the seat that looks like a strap rail, but it’s not. The belt should go under the back cast. I noticed a tendency for the belt to slide down towards the pedal as there is no belt guide to hold it in place.

The standard “American” belt schedule is also very simple. I have installed many baseless seats and I have found that the low profile of Graco seats makes baseless installation work very well in almost all cars.

Graco has launched two new models of SnugLock outlet stall level detectors. This model has a blue dial – the more expensive version of this platform has a bubble indicator.

I haven’t found the upgrade any easier (or harder) to use than the previous tier pointers. This new feature features a blue block that moves left or right depending on the level. As in the previous model, these indicators have 2 different areas: newborns and 3 months and older. I have seen many owners of this seat confused that they have to install the seat upright for 3 months (no). I don’t think the new indicator will clarify this question.

Graco Snugride Click Connect 30 Infant Car Seat

My two oldest children used the Graco SnugRide 35 Click Connect, so I was in familiar territory using the SnugLock on my new child. What can I say – I’m just a fan of Graco rear facing seats. The racks are light, easy to install and easy to tighten… no complaints! I even took the SnugLock on the plane and had no problem installing the rack. I’m also a fan of the plastic pads on hand. Although I tend to leave the seat in the car, it makes it so much easier to carry when I take it out.

Airplane seat belts are slightly thicker than car seat belts. When installing the SnugRide on an airplane, temporarily tilt the mount to the side to thread the strap through the strap guide. Then even get up from the seat, place the seat belt on the opposite side of the seat belt guide, close and tighten.

During CPST, we saw a large number of children arriving for seat inspections and facing only car seats at the Graco rear installation stations. We’ve consistently found that SnugRide carriers are great for pre- and newborn babies. SnugLock 35 is no exception!

The SnugLock 35 comes with an optional infant insert that can be used until the baby weighs 12 pounds and the seat belt is in the two lower positions. Our Preemie doll is 17 inches tall with 7 inch bones.

I find the preemie doll fits very well even without the insert. We have found that sometimes wearing something can push the baby’s head forward. If this seems to be a problem for your child, you may want to try the seat without it. The inserts can only be used when the straps are at the bottom of both straps.

This little newborn rider weighs 8 pounds and is 20 inches long. The seat is very comfortable and we expect him to have plenty of room to sit in this seat. He also wraps up safely for cold weather travel – the blanket goes over him and doesn’t interfere with his real harness.

Our huggable baby doll is 7 pounds, 17 inches tall and 9.5 years old. The fit was excellent, as I expected. There are many places to grow

This feature is 6 days old. It weighs 6.5 pounds and is 19 inches long. We’ve found that rear-facing Graco car seats are ideal for the smallest passengers, and this seat is no exception. He has a great belt and has a lot of room to grow.

Graco Snugride® Snugfit 35 Infant Car Seat Base

This little guy is 3 months old, weighs 14 pounds and is 25 inches long. He has a long frame so he’s almost ready for third down! The seat fits him perfectly and still gives him the sitting position he needs as his head control is still not perfect. He might grow taller in this chair before his friends catch up (furry though!)

Our toddler doll has not yet outgrown the height of this seat. He still fits perfectly in the spare room!

When this car seat is installed in a booster or minivan car seat, Graco guarantees that up to 20% of the base can extend over the edge of the car seat.

FAA Approval Sticker: The FAA Approval Sticker is located on the underside of the rack. The FAA base does not allow it.

U.s. Pushes For Wider Recall Of Graco Car Seats

Manual storage: The manual is stored in a compartment on the same platform as the lower anchors. This is a convenient and easily accessible location even with the seat installed.

Dropping: Instructions are stamped on the back of the seat not to use the seat after 7 years from the date of manufacture.

The white sticker on the rack shows the date it was issued. We would also like to see the expiration date on the label.

Easy to carry, possibly the easiest stand to set up on the market and perfect for toddlers. The Graco SnugRide SnugLock 35 is a great choice for parents and caregivers looking for a first car seat for their little one. In addition, the narrow width of the base combined with the simple strap of the belt makes this a great choice for three situations or any center seat. We recommend this chair to caregivers looking for an affordable chair that is easy to set up and fits well.
