You won’t want to hear this, but you’ll never be able to fix that textured powder coating. You will need to pull the cover and clean it and then dust it again. You will also need to remove or carefully mask the triangle icon. Not too bad, I did this years ago on an older Thruxton.

There is a local shop that specializes in textured powder coating and their prices are extremely reasonable. I’m going there tomorrow to have them work on it! I hope it looks as good as when I got it

I want to paint the “Hole Shot” engine covers that came with my 2014 Hammer 8 Ball (I’ve already replaced the “Hole Shot” grips and pins).

I paint them because I don’t want to spend several hundred dollars to replace them. Money is tight these days.

Has anyone managed to use the paint on the bike? Does any heat resistant paint work or is one better than the others?

At this point, I haven’t decided whether to use a gloss finish or a flat finish. It’s black around the engine and there’s a lot of gloss black on the rest of the bike.

I thought I might have to prepare the surface somehow. Am I going to have to make all the dents in the damn things? Maybe a tapered sanding bit on the drill bit to slightly rough up the surface of the dimples so the paint will stick?

Pardon my ignorance, but when I remove these covers, what will I find behind them? I think the left side covers the timing mechanism, but I don’t know what is for the right. Do they contain any motor oil or are they just surface covers? Do I need to buy any washers before I remove them?

I like to do as much as possible myself, not only to save money, but also for the satisfaction of actually doing it. But because I don’t know what I’m getting myself into, I usually get frustrated or disappointed. I will first check the price of powder coating and then think about the possibility of painting.

I don’t have a picture, but the right side looks good without the little cover. Just a couple of screw holes to put screws into.

I have it in aerosol cans or by the pint or quart.

2) Custom Silver Metallic Paint: You see this on the XL fenders, tanks and MR50. I have it in aerosol cans or by the pint or liter.

3) Engine cover paint: high temperature – used on clutch, stator and gear covers and cylinder housings. This fits almost all Japanese engines. Available in aerosol cans only.

Honda SL frame, Z50 and CT70 wheel and many other Honda parts: Commonly called Cloud Silver: The kit consists of one can of Aerosol Silver and one can of Poly Clear. Usually one can is enough to make a small bicycle frame.
