How To Launch A Motorcycle – In less than three weeks, Harley-Davidson’s electric motorcycle line, LiveWire, will release its first bike under a new brand, with the full support of the company’s electricity-friendly CEO.
Although Harley-Davidson launched the original Harley-Davidson LiveWire electric motorcycle under the main bar and shield brand, the company announced earlier this year that its electric motorcycle business would be spun off into its own brand, LiveWire.

Ahead of the upcoming unveiling, HD CEO Jochen Zeitz was unequivocal about his thoughts on the continued growth of the electric motorcycle industry:

Zeitz made the comments at the CNBC Evolve Global Summit, where he discussed the company’s continued progress in electric vehicles.
We still don’t know what kind of electric motorcycle will be revealed as the first LiveWire-branded bike in early July, but a recent leak suggests that the bike will be called the LiveWire One and will feature a Harley-Davidson LiveWire the bike is the same powered electric motorcycle.
There is speculation that LiveWire could release a smaller and lighter electric motorcycle designed for urban riders, a group widely considered to be critical to the success of Harley’s electric motorcycles. But the little details we’ve gotten so far point more to a bike that’s similar in build to the current Harley-Davidson LiveWire.

No matter what kind of motorcycle LiveWire puts out, Zeitz seems confident that the brand can continue in Harley-Davidson’s footsteps by incorporating many of the motorcycle maker’s heritage hallmarks. As he further explained:
“All the values that made Harley great in terms of adventure, in terms of freedom, you know, like we said, freedom of the soul, they’re also values that mostly transfer to LiveWire, although, there’s a you know, into different, more urban customers.”

But now it’s an ever-changing list. KTM got us excited about a new RC 8C sportbike last summer, but our interest waned when we realized it was an illegal, limited production track bike. However, that didn’t stop interested customers from collecting all 100 items in less than five minutes after the pre-order window opened. Not that we’re surprised by the strong demand, as KTM has been making big displacement bikes for a few years now.
We may not have to wait too long, however, as a prototype of KTM’s new Duke-based 890 sports bike has been spotted testing in Spain. The test bike shares the fairing of the MotoGP RC 8C and KTM RC16 race car, but the headlight and number plate make it clear that the bike will be sports legal.
Unlike the RC 8C with the LC8c engine in the Krämer chassis, all the prototypes appear to be KTM, with a frame derived from the Duke 890. The engine appears to be based on the parallel architecture of the 890 Duke R, but the new engine cases, suggesting some big changes inside. Looking at KTM’s recent history, we’re expecting another displacement bump for the current 889cc, which is why we’re tentatively calling the bike the RC990 (we’ve also recently seen testing of an exposed version that suggests there is also the new 990 Duke R · Production ).
Spy photographer Bernhard Höhne told us that the test mule was accompanied by a Ducati Panigale V2 as a reference point, giving us an idea of KTM’s target level of performance.

The exhaust system looks rugged and appears to be brand new, taking up a lot of space under the engine and requiring a new opening in the web. The swing arm appears to be a new design with a slight curvature at the front to increase clearance around the exhaust.
The RC990 comes with Brembo Stylema brake calipers, and a brake cooling duct kit similar to that found on the 1290 Super Duke RR. The fork looks similar to the WP Apex on the 890 Duke R, but the RC990 seems to have more camber.
The ergonomics look aggressive, and the high rear footpegs force test riders to make uncomfortable knee bends. However, the clip appears to be quite high, but that may be subject to change. The test bike appears to be using long fork tubes, and the wear on the down tube where the clips are located suggests that KTM may be testing different handlebar heights.
The rear subframe looks new and could use some bodywork to cover the rough edges. There are rear turn signals on the license plate bracket, but the finished product needs taillights. The twin headlights also look unfinished, currently looking like lights from the previous generation RC390 rather than the single larger current model. We suspect more changes will be made before the RC990 is ready for production.

The RQi electric motorcycle will be officially launched in China in the second half of 2021.

The initial version of the RQi will include a pair of removable 72V 36Ah battery packs with a combined capacity of 5.2 kWh. The World Motorcycle Test Cycle (WMTC) range is rated at 119 kilometers (74 miles).
