How To Get Scratches Off Motorcycle
It’s a little science project, but here’s what I did to perfect the blur. I wet sanded with 1200 grit and applied some turtle wax spray and really enjoyed this. If you try this, keep in mind that you’ll need to be very careful around any edges to avoid burning the translucent/clear finish, as you’re essentially recreating the texture of the original finish all over the surface. If very fine scotch-brite is available, it’s worth a try, but if it leaves small visible scratches it’s not good enough, so it’s more effective with 1200 wet sand to remove coarse scratches. This is on the front fender… until I put the tortoise wax on it looks very matte and chalky to me.

Great info…I have to fix a hole in my bottom (’13 translucent cos) will try it again…for a complete repaint I just repaired, can you suggest wet sanding, matte spray paint, wet sanding ? And turtle wax?

Matte finishes are complex due to varying levels of reflection and cannot be compared without repainting. The 1200 wet sand method is a small art, for fully cured hard surfaces, creating a uniform appearance.
Also, I’d say the vulnerability isn’t complete…just looking for an on-site fix. Fortunately, the bad spot is at the bottom of the flat part, at least if I screw it up it won’t be visible.
Matte Scratches And What To Do!
Not a bad idea…I’ve been against stickers up until this point because I don’t race, but a patch placed tactfully to cover up the repair won’t hurt.
I don’t really like stickers unless the track is on the fenders because I like a clean and refined look (so does my car). My carbon front bumper has some Pirelli stickers, that’s it.
182 — Use a spray bottle and see how it works with scratches and finishes. It can be made 80% better and you can feel how it works with matte finish etc.

How To Remove Scratches From Motorcycle Paint
Start by wiping the scratched surface to identify the damage. Wipe off the scratches with a cloth and you are now ready for the next step. Start by applying a shoe polish that is darker than the color of your bike and apply it to the scratches. After you apply it to the scratch, you can use sandpaper to smooth the surface. Using sandpaper makes the scratch invisible.
Be careful not to sand more than necessary; Otherwise you will do more harm than good. Scrub until the surface is flat and the shoe polish is gone.
