Unlike other vehicles in the series, the motorcycle rider appears as a male or female in-game model. In the event of an accident the bike model will not be destroyed and the rider will disappear leaving the bike on the road until the bike is regenerated.
Like all other vehicles, bicycles can be damaged but will not show dents. Bikes can’t do Showtime. Bikes can’t do a Driveaway, obviously, because they can’t run without a rider.
The bikes do not have reactive or reactive electric brakes. By pushing the wheelies left stick down and simultaneously using the accelerator to push the left stick up, the rider will lean back and any bike will reach its top speed faster.

A variation of Burning Routes other than Daily Burning Rides, the player will have a time limit to pass through various checkpoints located around Paradise City and ride their bike to the finish line. At night, there are separate rides called Midnight Rides that follow the same rules as Burning Rides. There are 19 Burning Rides and 19 Midnight Rides.
There are 70 new challenges created specifically for bikes, 35 of which are timed and multi-part challenges (similar to the New Challenges in the Cagney Update).
In online challenges, all players’ clocks are synchronized with the host’s clock to eliminate unfair advantages.
The update also has a day/night transition cycle. Used for Day and Night Timed Road Rules. The player can choose how long the transition lasts and can switch from one setting to another offline at any time. Online game settings cannot be changed and the host will be locked to whatever settings they choose.

A dynamic weather system was implemented to change the feel of the city during the day/night cycle. Dynamic Weather was first but Static Weather was first seen in Year 2: Impact Point with different weather options; sunny, cloudy, rain or snow. The effects of the weather in Paradise, however, are nothing but fog.
The car books were eventually made available for the PlayStation 3 version, as Xbox 360 players were able to use them immediately with the delayed version of Cagney.
After downloading the Bike update for Xbox 360, sometimes an error message appears shortly after starting the game stating that the downloadable content is corrupted and unavailable.
This will prevent players from using the new bikes and cause other issues, such as muting all high-pitched sounds in music and/or muting vehicle sound effects.

Sometimes the game will go back to its original state before the Cagney Update. An easy fix here is to delete the Cagney update on the Xbox 360 via the dashboard, as the Cagney Update is already included with the Bikes update.
