How To Bypass Ignition Switch On Motorcycle – I want to bypass the key ignition and possibly replace it with a toggle switch or push start has anyone ever done this? Advice? Help? I’m having the hardest time getting it to work, I did it on a Honda Shadow but there were 3 wires shorted!
Keyless, I’m more concerned with how you plan to put gas in the tank….no aftermarket options for that.

Here is a copy of the wiring diagram. If you share your model year, that may help answer your question. The power switch is located in the lower left quadrant.
The wiring diagram looks the same. There appear to be several different fuses running from several different circuits that terminate at the key switch. If I were you, I’d use one or more relays instead of hooking them all up to a single pole switch. Or look for a three-pole switch that completes three circuits when activated, as the ignition key switch does. The industry term is 3PST (3 pole single throw) circuit breaker. Pay attention to the maximum DC voltage rating: breakers are often rated for 125V AC and only 30V DC; Bikes use direct current. DC is more taxing on switches, because it doesn’t change polarity 50/60 times per second like AC, so the switch has to work harder to break the circuit. If you use a switch that is not rated for adequate DC voltage and amperage, it will eventually burn the contacts and melt or short the terminals.
One of the options is provided here (probably not suitable for C50 due to only 20A power rating) https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/NKK-Switches/S31?qs=WCT%2BFox0FCSQNjV%2BnciPdw==
Look for a switch that can handle at least 30A on DC power, the better. The starting current can go up to 30A. If you can find 40A or even 50A (unlikely in this form factor) that would be ideal – it will last longer.

Well, you need to take the 100 ohm resistor and find the wire going back to the ECM which is a 100 ohm 1/2 watt 5% tolerance resistor. I’m trying to find the leads myself, I’ve had this before but my bike is sitting and some people are trying to fix something without permission they know nothing about I’ll get the right connection asap if you still have But if some are needed I will take a photo of mine and send it to you. Never listen to locksmiths who say you can’t do it, they try to spread false information because they want your business for about three hundred dollars, we all know there’s a way when there’s a will.

This is an old thread, you may not get a reply and you are reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread. It can often be frustrating if you lose your ATV key and don’t have a quick option to fix it. If you’re worried about what to do the next time this happens, I’ve actually prepared a more comprehensive guide for you. How to bypass the ignition switch on an ATV? Starting your ATV without a key? Let’s take a little trip together. guess what? You can use a variety of approaches to start your ATV without a key, however, you will need some essential hardware. The truth is that no matter if you have the best ATV for street riding, you have to keep in mind that your quad can start without an ignition key. First, the switch acts as a circuit breaker that sends a signal to your ATV’s electrical box. In the absence of the key, there will be no transmission of power to the remaining electrical elements. Therefore, your engine will not start. Table of Contents How do I start an ATV without a key? Enable recoil or kick starter Hot wiring Remove the ignition to turn it on manually Use scissors or a screwdriver Make a replacement key Replace the ignition switch FAQ Can I start my ATV without a battery? What if my ATV does? Does it have a pull start function? What other tools do I need to start my ATV without a key? Conclusion How do you start an ATV without a key? enable pull or kick start; hot wiring; disassemble it to manually activate the ignition; Use scissors or a screwdriver; Made a replacement key; Replace the ignition switch. Enabling Recoil or Kick Start Unfortunately, not all ATVs have a pull or kick start. If your ATV isn’t one of these, this selection won’t help you much. However, if you are one of the lucky ones, this may be the fastest and easiest method. Start by removing the front hood which will expose all the electrical elements and also locate and unplug the wire connecting the engine to the ignition switch. You can now use the recoil or kick starter to start the engine. Hot Wiring An ATV’s hot wire harness will depend entirely on how your particular ATV is built. However, the main goal is to modify the wire to bypass the ignition switch and keep the circuit open, which will certainly allow the pacing to start the engine. There are a number of means for this, however, the basic treatment is as follows: 1. Place exposed wires in the ignition; The first lead is often connected to the 12V DC from the battery. Usually, the wire is red, but confirm this by comparing it to the result on the main fuse. 2. From here, you need to remove one of the remaining wires. Identify the color of the kill switch wire and locate its double color in the power button adapter in the circuit harness. This wire is usually green. Do not split this cable! 3. Another wire that you want to prevent from splicing is the interrupt button wire. Determine the color of the kill switch wire in the harness and CDI connector. These cables are often black with white stripes. 4. This leaves you with only one cable delegate splice with a designated starting cable. 5. Isolate the ground and cut the above wire to prevent it from shorting and extinguishing the spark. 6. Cut the wires you have identified and also connect them using tape. Be sure to disconnect the cable as soon as you finish driving to ensure that the lights and petrol pump go out, which prevents the battery from discharging. Disassembling the ignition to turn it on manually This approach requires taking the ignition apart, so I would only use it if you are preparing to set up a brand new ignition or if you are comfortable enough to put the ignition back together. The factor in this approach is basically to align the ignition with the way you turn the key. Follow these 5 steps to give
