If your car revs when you accelerate, this is a warning sign that your car has a serious problem. The sooner you can identify the problem, the more you can reduce the damage to the car and lower the cost of repairs. This problem should not be ignored, always take your car to a good mechanic before it gets worse.
Old damaged spark plugs will cause the engine to misfire. This means that your spark plugs are not igniting the fuel in each piston cylinder in time, causing the car to spin as it accelerates. If your spark plugs are worn out, you should just replace them as this is usually a simple and inexpensive fix.
Fuel injectors are how gas is injected into your car’s engine. When your engine is dirty, the flow of oil does not flow forward, causing friction in your engine and as a result your car will vibrate when you accelerate. Fuel injectors should be cleaned periodically to avoid this problem and more expensive repairs.
If the accelerator cable breaks, you can get a shock. This is a metal stitched cable that acts as a connection between the gas pedal and the engine plate. When you press the gas pedal, the cable is pulled and it opens the gauge. Over time, these cords weaken with age and can deteriorate and break. When this cable is damaged, it will take longer to accelerate and cause your car to jerk.
Humans Just Can’t Stop Rear Ending Self Driving Cars—let’s Figure Out Why
Car engines need air and fuel to run. In your engine, it mixes with oil and is ignited by sparks to create an explosion that moves the pistons inside. This cycle continues as you allow your car to move. If there is a blockage in the line that allows fuel or air to enter your engine, this cycle is interrupted and can cause your car to shake when you try to accelerate. Normally the check engine light will come on if any of these things are blocked. Remember: Don’t ignore a check engine light, always get it to a service center right away!

Deposits in your car’s distributor cap can cause your car to jerk when you accelerate, causing your engine to fail. This can easily happen when you park your car outside in cold weather. The best way to prevent this is to park your car in a dry location during the cold and winter months.
The catalytic converter is responsible for regulating the emissions that come out of your car. Sometimes the air and fuel supply that flows through your transmission can become blocked, which can cause jerking or movement when you press the gas pedal.

This could be due to ABS, loose U-joint or brake problems. It could even be as specific as a bad IAC valve. But if the car vibrates when accelerating, it is mainly due to problems with the ignition system, sensors or air intake.
The causes of this problem are almost endless. But in this article, we will look at some of the main reasons why your car vibrates when you accelerate.
In order for your vehicle to run smoothly, it needs the correct air and fuel intake – the amount of which should be as detailed as possible. Especially for fuel, sufficient quantity can only be ensured if there are no holes or blockages in the lines that carry the fuel from the tank to the nozzles and finally to the cylinders in the engine. So, of course, problems are expected if the above conditions are not met.

Although there are many components in an engine, fuel injectors are arguably the biggest compromise to consistent fuel consumption and often cause the car to jerk under acceleration. Any blockage or dirt in the fuel lines is what causes them to absorb unwanted moisture, which then enters the fuel injection system. Ultimately, this event will disrupt the latter’s ability to deliver enough fuel to the engine in a timely manner.
In addition to misfiring, dirty fuel injectors also cause power loss, stuttering, and erratic vibrations when pulling from a stop due to high power. Cleaning the injectors helps solve these problems and should be done regularly to prevent problems from recurring.
Consider the condition of the fuel injectors while they are in place, as even the best aftermarket cleaners will not work if the injectors are badly damaged by carbon deposits.
At this point you may need a special tool like the AUTOOL Ultrasonic Fuel Injector Cleaner (see on Amazon) to get a better clean or replace the injectors if there is a lot of carbon buildup.
Reasons Your Car Jerks When Accelerating
Now, if the injectors aren’t to blame, there’s a good chance it’s either the fuel pump or the fuel filter. The reason I say this is because a car that shakes when accelerating is usually caused by a fuel problem.
If the injectors look good (meaning they’re not clogged or in bad shape), imbalance is just one of the other things that cause uneven fuel delivery. Between the two, I would prefer the negative fuel filter as it is cheaper to replace or fix with the fuel pump (see on Amazon).
If it’s not the oil components to blame, it’s worth checking your car’s fuel lines to make sure they’re not leaking or chewed by mice. These nozzles are responsible for supplying fuel to the engine while creating the necessary pressure with the fuel pump.
If they are damaged or broken, even if the pump is good, there will not be the necessary oil pressure, causing serious damage and the judgment of your car. Even worse, a burst fuel line can cause the engine to explode and the car to catch fire.
Life With The Toyota Rav4: What Do Owners Really Think?
As previously established, your car needs a proper, clean air intake just like solid fuel to run. If the air entering your engine is not clean, you will have problems similar to when your vehicle is not getting enough fuel. When this happens, faulty air filters are often to blame – and rightly so.
Air vents are a vehicle’s first line of defense against dirt, air and other air pollutants. This means that it is important to keep them clean in order for them to function properly.
When the air filter is clogged, it will accidentally allow particles to enter the engine, harming fuel combustion and causing the car to sputter during acceleration.
Generally, air filters should be changed every 12 months or between 10,000 and 45,000 miles, keeping your air filters healthy at this interval.
