The bike’s top speed is around 60 mph (96 km/h), and the 11 kW (15 hp) motor makes it ideal for city use and occasional high-speed sprints. With an MSRP of $6,995 and eligibility for federal tax credits, it has become an increasingly popular option for commuters looking for an affordable electric motorcycle.
Outside of civilian use, the bike has now been adopted for first use in police service by the Brandon Police Department in Brandon, Vermont.
The department’s new acquisition explains how the city has a mandate to encourage all municipal departments to move to electric vehicles.
Electric vehicles like Tesla cars and the electric F-150 Lightning truck have been used for police service in the past, but those EVs carry hefty price tags in the high five-figure range, making them expensive budget-friendly vehicles.

The Brandon Police Department decided that an inexpensive electric motorcycle was the cheapest way to begin integrating electric vehicles into their department.
Their fleet has no motorcycles yet, instead operating a mix of police cruisers and police bicycles. The new Kollter ES1 electric motorcycle will fill a hybrid role between the two when it enters service next week.
Our electric motorcycle will be used primarily for traffic enforcement and patrol, but we will use it in a hybrid capacity as a sort of ‘bike patrol’ in the city of Brandon. After we first got it, our motor officer got a chance to test drive it and he absolutely loved it. He has experience riding regular gas motorcycles and has nothing but good things to say about it. He said there was a bit of a learning curve in driving it and that he didn’t particularly need to change gears, but he was surprised by the acceleration, lightness and comfort of driving it.
In fact, many officers in the department who have never ridden a motorcycle are now eager to get a motorcycle license so they can ride one, Chief Kachajian explained.
The official launch of the bike will take place next week on September 10 with a demonstration at the Solar Fest in downtown Brandon.

Kyle Wilde, who has declined multiple interview requests and is seeking legal advice, shared a nearly seven-minute video last week, writing that “[a] cop just threw me off my bike for no reason.”
