What Nissan Car Has The Best Gas Mileage – On the side of the warehouse not far from its headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee, the automaker has painted “38 mpg” in reference to the combined EPA rating for the highway number.
You can’t buy a midsize sedan with good fuel economy unless you go for a hybrid or a Mazda6 with the company’s expensive i-ELOOP handbrake.
What Nissan Car Has The Best Gas Mileage
The company’s engineers say they have reduced the car’s drag coefficient to 0.26 Cd (from 0.29, which is now the same as the GT-R sport coupe).
Most Fuel Efficient Suvs In 2022
To get there, the stylists changed the car’s front fender and hood, although you may not immediately notice the aero effect due to the change in the shape of the grille.
Engineers then added air shields to the bottom, as well as active exhaust manifolds that close the lower intake at high speeds.
A 3.5-liter V-6 is optional, but it’s only offered in two trim levels and makes up a small portion of Altima sales.
Other updates for 2016 include insulated windshields to reduce road noise, some suspension tweaks, new wheel rims and a re-trimmed interior.
What Are The Most Fuel Efficient 2017 Model Year Vehicles?
Both engines offer a new SR-trim level that adds sportier suspension and improved steering.
You can get the same equipment for about $1,000 less in the Honda Accord EX-L, but a similarly optioned Toyota Camry XLE costs about the same.
The update gives the Altima a more Maxima-inspired look that’s still conservative and elegant, if vanilla.
Get in and things are mostly the same as before, which means the Altima’s optional pickup system feels a little dated, but the interior has plenty of room for five people.
Nissan Altima Values & Cars For Sale
Our test car included a $1,700 optional package that included a variety of radar features, such as automatic low-speed braking and adaptive cruise control.
It lacks a lane-keeping feature if the driver suddenly drifts out, but a system many competitors now offer.
Handling is where the Altima changes the most. Except for the SR, all Altims have the same suspension and steering setup.
Our SL tester soaked up small bumps in what would be a luxury car, but it vibrated and felt unsettled on the highway.
Of The Most Fuel Efficient Gas Engine Crossovers
The Altima 2.5SL is not a sports sedan. Its steering is light and direct, but it doesn’t offer any feel. A soft ride provides noticeable body roll when cornering.
Competitors like Honda and Subaru, not to mention the Miata-like Mazda6, offer a similar high-quality ride without being completely confused on a twisty road.
And as it turns out, it constantly sucks without being led. The Disc averages less than 40 mpg in 65 highway miles.
More city driving pushed that number to an average of 30.6 mpg, according to the Altima’s trip computer.
Fuel Economy In Automobiles
Our city average, on the other hand, came in at 25.1 mpg, mostly because the Altima required a good kick from the driver’s right leg to get up and going—though that’s partly due to that tall driver. 5,280-ft.
It may not be a fun drive, but the Altima is certainly one of the best ways to hit nearly 40 mpg on the highway without breaking into the expensive and complex world of hybrids.

Hybrid cars are the masters of fuel economy, and fully electric cars take gas out of the equation entirely. But not everyone is interested in productive battery power for their daily driver.
If you want cheap fuel economy without power assistance, this list is for you. There are still plenty of gas-guzzling cars out there—all but one of the cars on this list of 10 have an official EPA rating of more than 40 mpg. You’ll have to give up your hopes for an SUV or truck, but you don’t have to settle for a small, lightweight Econobox.
New 2022 Nissan Sentra Reviews, Pricing & Specs
Here’s a quick rundown of the most fuel-efficient new cars for 2022 on gasoline alone, from worst to first by combined mileage. All MPG statistics come directly from the EPA.
With a starting price of $14,595, the Chevrolet Spark is the cheapest new car you can buy in the United States. The 1.4-liter four-cylinder is also easy on gas, but if you want one, wash it fast. 2022 is the last year of the minor setback.
Volkswagen’s compact sedan starts at $21,990 for the S trim with automatic transmission. Paired with a 158-horsepower 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, it’s an EPA-listed combination that delivers the best mileage.
Kia’s small sedan is getting a serious visual upgrade for 2022. Starting at $20,115 for the FE trim, it’s powered by a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine that makes 147 horsepower and sends it to the front wheels through a CVT.
Nissan Offers Mirth In Geneva
The entry level Nissan Versa S Xtronic starts at $17,875. A cheaper Versa S with a manual transmission is available, but the best EPA mileage goes to the automatic CVT model. With only 122 horsepower, the 1.6-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine isn’t the fastest car here. But it gets 40 mpg on the highway.
A Toyota Corolla hatchback with automatic CVT starts at $23,040. For this price you get, among other things, a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine with a power of 168 horsepower, standard aluminum wheels and Toyota Safety Sense 2.0.
Kia’s second most fuel-efficient sedan on this list is also the company’s cheapest, starting at $17,275 for the LX model. The compact sedan has a 1.6-liter four-cylinder that produces just 120 horsepower, mated to a CVT. It is light, but offers a small list of standard equipment including an 8-inch touchscreen with a rear camera.
If the Kia Rio’s styling isn’t appealing, the Accent is its Hyundai counterpart. It has the same 1.6L engine and CVT and offers the same fuel economy for $17,690.
Cars With The Best Gas Mileage
The 11th generation Civic was released in 2021 with a stylish exterior and stylish interior. The standard engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated, but the EPA rates the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine at 180 horsepower and slightly higher fuel mileage. This requires stepping up to the luxury Civic EX, which starts at $26,365.
The Elantra offers a unique setup with a stunning interior and a host of standard features, including an 8-inch touchscreen, while offering impressive fuel economy. A 147-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivers power by turning the front wheels via a CVT. Prices start at $20,995 for the base SE trim.
Winning the fuel gauge for clean burning power is the innovative Mitsubishi Mirage. The price that reflects such weakness is a 1.2-liter three-cylinder that produces only 78 horsepower. As with other vehicles, the highest EPA ratings are found with the CVT automatic transmission compared to the standard five-speed manual transmission. As a result, actual pricing for the ES model starts at $16,990 without options. While sedans, coupes, and hatchbacks are slowly disappearing from view – or at least losing to long, large SUVs and crossovers, there is no denying that they are still the most powerful form of transportation. Cars, especially minivans, weigh less, need smaller engines to do the same job, and have to punch a smaller hole in the air than SUVs. Therefore, autonomous and autonomous vehicles are (generally) the most efficient vehicles on the road.
But how effective is it? After all, cars have been breaking the 30 mpg mark for years. Fortunately, the EPA releases fuel economy estimates for every new car sold today, so we rounded up all the small and compact cars that can get at least 35 miles to the gallon on the combined EPA cycle. To clarify, the agency defines combined fuel economy as follows: “[Combined mpg] is the weighted average city and highway mpg value, calculated by weighting the city value at 55 percent and the highway value at 45 percent.” percentage.”
Nissan Versa Priced From $14,730, Nets Up To 40 Mpg
With that out of the way, here are the cheapest compact cars you can buy today, ranked on the EPA’s hybrid cycle from least to most efficient.
The newly redesigned Nissan Versa is a huge step up from its predecessor. This is not to say that it is the best car in its segment – far from it. But now it is a reasonable choice for anyone considering a cheap and happy vehicle. It’s also economical, getting 32/40/35 mpg city/highway/combined as long as you spec the automatic transmission. You can get the Versa with a five-speed manual transmission, and while it’s certainly Nissan’s most attractive compact sedan, it’s also the least efficient.
Honda Civic 2022 is the latest model in the compact car segment. It’s great to drive, easy to live with and affordable
