PLANTATION, Fla. – The mother of a toddler who was left alone at a daycare center Thursday is suing the company that owns the plantation daycare center.

Burrillo told police that he and Lucilena Viggiano, a teacher, were the last employees of the center and were responsible for its closure.

“We are outraged that KinderCare put a child’s life at risk by failing to follow safety protocols that resulted in a two-year-old being abandoned and confined in a dark facility. The whole situation got even worse, Ms. Martinez saw that her son was in danger and when the police and fire department were called, the toddler was freed using extreme measures.
“The whole incident could have been avoided if KinderCare had not abdicated their responsibilities and the toddler. To make matters worse no one at KinderCare bothered to pick up the phone in this emergency situation, they never apologized for their bad behavior and gave nothing but a flimsy excuse for what happened. We will file a lawsuit to get justice through the legal system and to make sure this never happens to another child.”
