What He Didn’t Do Carly Pearce Chords Lyrics
I will not tell you what he did, but what he did not do
Carly Pearce, Ashley Mcbryde ‘never Wanted To Be That Girl’
In June, Pierce and singer Michael Ray announced their separation after eight months of marriage. It was a dramatic end to a high-profile relationship, with both of them fawning over each other in interviews and on social media.
Neither of the singers have been specific about what happened to their marriage, but Pierce spoke in an interview about how difficult the past seven months have been for her and how she feels she fought harder than she did to save the marriage. If this new song, “Didn’t Do,” is about the end of that relationship, it’s based on that theme.
“Treat me right, put me first / Be a man of your word, stay home ’cause he wants / Always fight for me, hold me like you can’t bear to lose my love / The devil’s in the details, I won’t tell the devil he’s been through me / All I know is that it wasn’t what he did in the end / No, he didn’t do it,
Pierce and Ray will have new music. Ray has said little about the album’s themes, but promises a typical country album. Pierce is coming off the best year of his career. That’s thanks to his critically acclaimed self-titled album and his duet with Lee Brice, “I Hope You’re Happy Now.” She’s got new music, too, and has shared with fans snippets of her breakup singles, “Heart First” and “Council.” He also wrote a tribute to his friend and late producer Busby called Show Me Around and published it in full.

In a new interview, the 32-year-old country singer says, “When I drive down Music Row, I feel the weight of the years I’ve spent crying in my car.”
Despite every no, Pierce kept playing. Over the years, he’s become a fixture at the Bluebird Café and Puckett’s Grocery, where Nashville storytellers are chasing their dreams. He sometimes felt like the proverbial wheel would get stuck in the mud of a muddy factory. He could have walked away from his childhood dream of country music success and parked his creative truck in a park.
But Pierce kept running. After all, rejection is not permanent. Today, he knows that “no” has another meaning: “not yet”.
Carly Pearce Says Touring With Kenny Chesney Came ‘right On Time’
Many now think of a teary-eyed Pierce, who fell to her knees after taking the stage at last year’s CMA Awards and winning Female Vocalist of the Year.
Price’s 29: Written In Stone album has seen remarkable growth. Like a handful of women who rose to fame before her, this Kentucky native has earned her place among today’s best-known three-chord truth-tellers with songs about heartbreak, painstaking healing, and life in between.
“29: Written in Stone,” the story of the singer’s public divorce, resonated with those listening to the familiar chaos, pain, and ultimately redemption, Pearce said. The album earned Pierce a Grand Ole Opry nomination, an ACM Award for Female Artist of the Year, and five nominations at the upcoming CMA Awards, including Female Artist of the Year.
Next week, Pearce closes out Chapter 29 with a two-night run at the Ryman Auditorium, making Pearce’s first headlining performance in Mother Church’s beloved country music venue.
Carly Pearce Releases Stunning Acoustic Rendition Of Current Single, “what He Didn’t Do”
“To end two shows that have been the best years of my life, it just confirms that a lot of my dreams are coming true,” Pearce said.
As 2020 begins, Pearce’s accomplishments today may seem like they will last a lifetime. His song “I Hope You’re Happy Now,” a collaboration with Lee Brice, reached the top five at country radio, a No. 1 hit and a step toward a handful of awards.
One problem: He needed a follow-up single and didn’t know who to turn to after longtime producer Busby died a few months ago. He wondered: how to make music without him?
“I didn’t know who I was going to work with,” Pierce said, “how I was going to trust someone so quickly.”

He was not only mourning the loss of his composer. That season, Pierce dealt with another earth-shattering change: divorce. He took writing classes with Music Row’s acclaimed storytellers Josh Osborne and Shane McAnally.
“I remember them both appearing on my screen on Zoom — that’s who I am: I don’t lie,” Pearce said. “I looked at them and thought, ‘I’m going to file for divorce next week.’ They were both like, ‘Oh. “Oh my God.”
On the other end of the call, Osborne heard a heartbreaking story that he knew could inspire emotional music.
“Shane was like, ‘Do you feel like writing?'” Obsorn said. “[Pierce] said, ‘I think writing is the only way out.'”
Carly Pearce Speaks Out After Split From Husband Michael Ray
The two-day session produced a pair of songs that are essential to the album: “Next Girl” is a warning to those who might follow in her footsteps, and “29” is “I’m a reflection of my heart on my sleeve that year.” married and divorced,” he sings.
“I remember writing ’29’ and being like, ‘This song isn’t going to live anywhere,'” Pearce said. “The year I got married and divorced? What commercial music is doesn’t make sense on paper.
He said, “I never intended to write a concept album…I was going through it in real time. This heartbreak. If you listen to this album, you can hear it.”
“Next Girl” and “29” marked the first two recordings of Nashville’s most familiar therapy: songwriting. Next week, Pierce tells an irreconcilable story behind the same old-school country sound as the music the Kentucky singer and ex-Dollywood cut their teeth on about their breakup.
New Music From Carly Pearce: What He Didn’t Do
He tells his own story on “What He Didn’t Do,” reaffirms his worth on “Should’ve Known Better,” and explains how moving on is dirty work on “Messy.”
“I was writing the initial shock and realization and anger and sadness,” Pearce says. “Hope and redemption at the end. I feel like I’m healed. I want anyone who’s been through a divorce or heartbreak. The loss might be the plan I had for myself – to see what my relationship was like.”
But at its best, music transforms personal experience into universal truth. 29: Written in Stone found a heavy-hearted audience that needed to hear his voice. From Nashville to London and back, they lined the barriers at Pierce’s shows with posters of him writing the plan.
