What Are Motorcycle Forward Controls – If you’re looking for a little extra leg room, these homemade steering wheel controls might be just what you’re after…

Now I leave the brake pedal in the original position, which makes this build very easy. Since the ankle replacement, I’ve had limited mobility in my right ankle, so I’ve been using meds to break in the brakes, but having said that, I’ve had a couple of mates take my bike. ride New front pedals were installed and he said there was no problem with the front foot and braking.

Pedals are moved approx. 3″ and 1-1/2″ in the front makes a huge difference. I’m 6′ and the front 3″ doesn’t look like much, but the 1-1/2 outboard extension makes it easier to ride and I’m still happy with the results. It looks like it came from the factory. Plus it cost nothing. I made it from scrap metal I had in the garage, so it would cost me about $20-$30 to buy all the parts. I estimate…

Instead of explaining how they were made, I decided a picture is worth a thousand words…

Thank you for posting this. I’ve been thinking a lot about doing the same thing with my bike. Having this as a witness would help a lot.

Even tall and short riders have been complaining that they are a bit tight in their shade, so I thought this advice might be of more interest. Especially since this one is comparatively cheap, but guess what, hey…

I think the “hard part” of extending the front controls is the brakes and levers/arms. The controls are affixed to the same steel plate, but stakes can be made of steel plate attached to the frame. Extending the stock rod and brake arm is the tricky part because they have to move and have to be inserted to make the link longer and they can “bend” into the link which you have to insert to extend them. The stock arms are covered to make the link longer. It’s hard. The electric kit uses an aluminum hole to cut through the end of the brake, and the brake switch is attached to the brake pedal, and the bay has a long rod with clevis fasteners at the end. I think it’s possible to replace both long rods with clevis joints at the ends, as the brake switch is attached to the rod. But most of the time, the brake switch is attached to the rod, so you’ll have to find another way to attach it.

Thanks Jammer, But the shift rod is easy as shown in the picture below (marked in red). What I did was to make a hole in both ends to connect the shift pin, then fold the ends over and tie a thread at the top to connect the shift pin. On the other side, the original suspension is tied. The pendulum is straight. Therefore, it will not have flexibility.

As I wrote about the brake pedal, I left it in the original position.

What Are Forward Controls On A Motorcycle? Pros & Cons

Great to see a professional solution on a forum; So encourage a well-crafted upgrade. When I looked at the picture, I looked worried. Good attention to detail.

I’ve been looking to do something like this myself, but I don’t have the means or time to figure it out. I’ve found universal tools that I’m pretty familiar with, but they’re more expensive than I’m willing to spend to fix the problem. So at this point, I made a slight adjustment to my sitting position and it helped.
