I’ve tried various methods to remove my dog’s hair from the trunk of the car, including sticky lint rollers (expensive but effective), wrap tape (sticky side out of course). It hurts a bit. I tried using balloons…
…yes, the idea behind the balloon trick is to stick the hair together by the static electricity created by rubbing the balloon on the carpet. It sounds silly, but it can attract surface hairs. However, vacuum the carpet.
I’ve heard of people using pumice stones on carpet to collect dog hair, but I’ve never tried it myself; maybe I’ll update this post later.
I did a dog hair removal from the seat because even though my dog is always traveling in the trunk of our station wagon, his hair is floating in the air and clinging to everything, that’s where the balloon trick variation comes in . I bought a pair of rubber gloves (mostly because they seemed a little better than rubbing balloons on the car seat) and I rubbed them on the carpeted surface with my hands. I’ve heard some people recommend taking a spray bottle full of water and lightly misting the area with a mitt before sweeping the carpet; it can increase static, but I’ve found that the mitt is fine on its own. Rub again in one direction. If you’ve ever been on a farm or outside for some time, you can track hay in your car.
