Clorox is recalling three of its Pine-Sol products because of the risk that they contain bacteria that can cause serious illness in humans.

According to a website dedicated to the recall, Pine-Sol is recalling the following cleaners after the company said it “discovered that some products may contain bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa.”

People with weakened immune systems or foreign medical devices exposed to Pseudomonas aeruginosa may develop serious infections that require treatment, according to a statement from the US. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Healthy people are usually not infected by viruses.

Bacteria can enter the human body through inhalation, through the eyes, or through skin breaks.

According to the CPSC, tests found the virus in some of the recalled products manufactured between January 2021 and September 2022.

Clorox Recalling Certain Pine Sol Cleaners Due To Risk Of Bacteria Exposure

About 37 million products manufactured at the Forest Park, Georgia facility are affected. These particular products are Pine-Sol Scented Multi-Surface Cleaners in Lavender Clean, Sparkling Wave and Lemon Fresh. Pine Sol all-purpose cleaners in Lavender Clean, Sparkling Wave, Lemon Fresh and Orange Energy scents. and Clorox Professional Pine-Sol Lemon Fresh Cleaners.

These items were sold in various sizes, from 28 ounces to 175 ounces. A complete list of Pine-Sol cleaners affected by the UPC can be found here.

To determine if your Pine-Sol is affected, you will want to check the date code on the top of the bottle. The recalled products have a date code beginning with the prefix “A4” followed by a five-digit number below “22249.”

If you have a Pine-Sol recall, the company asks that you stop using the product immediately. You can request a full refund online here. You will be asked to send a picture of the UPC on the bottle and the date code.
